Faith & Works FAQ

Question:

Can't we just agree to disagree?

Answer:

Hmm. Not to sure about this "entirely possible we may have to agree to disagree on baptism." That sounds suspiciously like "I can't answer your arguments, can't find what I believe in the Bible but don't want to change." Let's agree to agree on the Bible! If I can't answer your arguments from scripture then I will stop teaching false doctrine and change to teach faith only. If you can't answer my arguments from scripture then you should do the same! This isn't a minor matter: salvation hinges upon it. If I'm wrong then I'm binding human opinions on folks. If you are in error then you aren't saved! WOW! Seems to me we can do better than just hoping this will go away and let's just act like all is fine. Why is confrontation and reasoned debate so anathema in our world today? It certainly wasn't for Paul (see Acts 17:1ff). I say faith only won't save. You say it will. We can't both be right, we may both be wrong, but we can't both be right. Let's study in a productive and kind way to see what the Bible really teaches, okay?
